🧩 What if your gut symptoms and hormone symptoms a 🧩 What if your gut symptoms and hormone symptoms aren’t two separate problems?

If you can predict where you are in your cycle by your constipation, bloating, or digestion more accurately than your period app, that is a clue worth paying attention to. 👀

Your hormones and digestive system are constantly communicating.

As estrogen and progesterone change throughout your cycle, they can influence:
🌿 How quickly food and waste move through your gut
🌿 How sensitive your digestive system feels
🌿 Fluid retention and bloating
🌿 Hunger and appetite
🌿 Constipation or looser stools

Some women notice looser stools around their period. Others feel more constipated, full, or bloated after ovulation and during the second half of their cycle.

And perimenopause can add another layer. 🔄

Cycles that were predictable for years may suddenly change. At the same time, you may notice changes in your sleep, stress tolerance, digestion, food tolerance, and energy.

Instead of looking at each symptom separately, we want to know:
🔎 Does your bloating worsen after ovulation?
🔎 Do your bowel movements change in the two days before your period?
🔎 Does reflux appear during a certain part of your cycle?
🔎 Do pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, or painful periods occur along with digestive symptoms?

📅 This is why tracking your symptoms for 2 to 3 cycles can be so valuable.

Before changing five supplements or eliminating another food, look for the pattern.

Your fatigue, hormones, digestion, sleep, and stress response don’t exist in separate boxes.

They are part of the same beautifully interconnected body. 💚

Sometimes connecting those dots helps reveal why your energy is struggling too. ⚡

💬 Have you ever had a practitioner connect your gut symptoms with your hormonal symptoms? YES or NO?

💭 Anxiety gets one appointment. 🤢 Bloating gets an 💭 Anxiety gets one appointment.
🤢 Bloating gets another.
😴 Fatigue gets a lab panel and a reminder to “get more sleep.”

Sometimes those separate plans make sense.

But sometimes... they’re all part of the same story. 🧩

Your gut and brain are constantly communicating through:
✨ The vagus nerve
🛡️ Your immune system
⚡ Your stress response
🦠 The trillions of microbes living in your gut

Most of your body’s serotonin is actually made in your gut, where it plays a major role in healthy digestion and gut motility. Its effects extend far beyond mood, influencing communication throughout the gut-brain connection.

This is one of the reasons I don’t like looking at symptoms in isolation.

Instead, I want to understand the whole picture:
🔹 Stool changes
🔹 Menstrual cycle patterns
🔹 Diet and nutrient intake
🔹 Mold and toxin exposure risk
🔹 Stress levels
🔹 Thyroid history
🔹 Sleep quality
🔹 Infection history
🔹 Mood and mental health symptoms

📖 When we put all of those puzzle pieces on the same timeline, patterns often begin to emerge.

The goal isn’t simply to treat bloating, fatigue, or anxiety separately.

The goal is to understand why they’re happening together. 🌿

That’s where true healing begins.

💬 How many different body systems are your symptoms affecting right now? Drop the number below. ⬇️

✨ Have you ever wondered why so many seemingly unr ✨ Have you ever wondered why so many seemingly unrelated symptoms show up together?

You feel exhausted.
Your digestion is off.
Your hormones seem out of balance.
Your skin flares.
Your brain feels foggy.
Your thyroid labs aren’t quite right.

At first glance, they look like separate problems. But what if they aren’t? 🤔

Your body is designed as one beautifully connected system.

🌿 Your gut helps absorb nutrients your thyroid needs to make energy.
⚖️ Your gut bacteria help regulate estrogen metabolism, blood sugar, and hormone balance.
🧠 Your gut and brain communicate constantly through the vagus nerve, influencing mood, focus, and stress resilience.
🛡️ Nearly 70-80% of your immune system lives along your digestive tract, making gut health a key player in immune balance and autoimmunity.
✨ Even your skin can reflect what’s happening inside your gut.

This is one of the biggest reasons I don’t believe in chasing symptoms one at a time.

When we only treat fatigue...
without looking at digestion...

Or only address hormones...
without asking what’s driving the imbalance...

Or only calm skin flare-ups...
without investigating inflammation...

...we often miss the bigger picture.

💙 The goal isn’t simply to silence symptoms.

It’s to understand why your body is asking for help in the first place.

When we begin connecting the dots instead of treating each symptom separately, that’s often when people finally start experiencing:
🌱 More consistent energy
🌱 Better digestion
🌱 Balanced hormones
🌱 Clearer thinking
🌱 Healthier skin
🌱 Greater resilience

Because no system in your body works alone.

Neither should your healing. 💚

🦠 Your gut has a built-in cleaning cycle. Most pe 🦠 Your gut has a built-in cleaning cycle.

Most people have never heard of it.

If you’re dealing with bloating, constipation, recurring SIBO, food sensitivities, or low energy, this may be one of the missing pieces. ✨

🧠 It’s called the Migrating Motor Complex (MMC).

Think of it as your small intestine’s housekeeping crew.

Between meals, it sweeps leftover food, bacteria, and waste toward the colon.

🍽️ Here’s the catch...

Every time you eat, even a small snack, digestion restarts and the MMC pauses.

This impaired motility can contribute to bloating, constipation, bacterial overgrowth, and poor digestion.

The MMC depends on more than meal timing.
✨ Motilin helps initiate the sweep.
✨ Your vagus nerve and nervous system help keep it moving.

Chronic stress, inflammation, certain medications, previous infections, diabetes, and nervous system dysfunction can all interfere with this natural cleaning cycle.

That’s why I don’t simply tell clients to fast longer.

Instead, I ask:
🔎 How often are you eating?
🔎 Does bloating build with each meal?
🔎 Do symptoms improve overnight?
🔎 Is your nervous system stuck in “go” mode?

Sometimes the problem isn’t what you’re eating.

It’s that your gut never gets the opportunity to clean itself.

📦 When the MMC slows:
📍 Food and bacteria can linger longer, increasing the risk of bacterial overgrowth.
📍 Constipation becomes more likely. Waste, toxins, and used hormones remain in the digestive tract longer, increasing the opportunity for reabsorption instead of elimination.
📍 Your body must spend more energy processing what should have already left.

⚡ Over time, this can contribute to bloating, brain fog, sluggish digestion, and persistent fatigue.

🌿 Supporting healthy motility may include:
✔️ Appropriate meal spacing
✔️ Vagus nerve support
✔️ Managing chronic stress
✔️ Addressing the root causes affecting gut function

When your gut moves well, everything works better.
💚 Better digestion
💚 Better nutrient absorption
💚 Better elimination
💚 Better energy

💬 Had you ever heard of the Migrating Motor Complex before today? Answer YES or NO below!

🥛First it was dairy 🍞Then gluten 🥗Then onions, gar 🥛First it was dairy
🍞Then gluten
🥗Then onions, garlic, eggs, tomatoes, leftovers, and the spinach that was supposed to solve everything 🥬

Sound all too familair?

Each removal may calm symptoms for a while. Then the list grows again.😱

I take that pattern seriously because there are numerous reasons for food reactions (separate from a true food allergy which can be life threatening).

📌Leaky gut results in the body reacting to all sort of foods we commonly eat, by triggering an immune reaction and inflammation in response to those food particles sneaking into the bloodstream. These reactions can be ANYTHING from gut reactions, to skin issues, brain fog, joint pain, anxiety and more!

📌Gluten sensitivity is common because gluten causes leaky gut and is hard for your body to digest.

📌Lactose or fructose malabsorption can lead to gas, bloating, and diarrhea, depending on the amount consumed.

📌FODMAPs can increase intestinal water and fermentation in people with bacterial overgrowth in the gut.

📌Reflux, delayed stomach emptying, constipation, and even anxiety around eating can also change how a meal feels.

To understand your food reactions, I rely on:
✅ a detailed history
✅ appropriate functional lab testing
✅ structured elimination only when it has a clear purpose
✅ searching for the true root causes

🌱 The goal isn’t to keep removing foods forever.

🎉 The goal is to build a body that can tolerate more, not less.

Because living on chicken, zucchini, and determination isn’t a sustainable healing strategy.

💚 If your list of reactive foods keeps growing, your body is asking for a deeper investigation, not just another elimination diet.

💬 Has your list of foods you avoid grown over the years? About how many foods are currently on your “avoid” list?
